The summer holidays was always going to be a quiet time for my printmaking, with two young girls at home there’s not much time to get down to the studio, but I do get to finally reveal the double commission I’ve been working on. It was delivered as a surprise gift to the birthday girl, whose husband commissioned me to do two pieces of their favourite island getaway in the Maldives. A challenging commission to work on as it’s somewhat larger than I’d worked on up until then but they were extremely pleased with them and I was very happy to deliver them.
It was also a fabulous excuse to upgrade my studio equipment, a larger printing press and custom table (courtesy of www.underhillcraftandcustoms), monster brayer and supersized homemade drying rack. You didn‘t have to ask me twice! I’m now ready for anything….
Then my hubby, the girls and I grabbed a week away in Brixham with some good friends to recharge some batteries with some sea air. Then back home where I just about squeezed in some rainbow jigsaw prints of my little monsters and the bubbly octopi, which I hope to release in an Etsy shop in the not too distant future, along with my other nursery/rainbow printsand Christmas prints in due course.
Well that’s it for now, I will hopefully be finishing off another commission and maybe sneak in a pressing matters magazine competition entry before school resumes. Enjoy the rest of the summer folks and see you on the other side.
