For the last couple of week I have been attempting to print my Christmas wreath designs onto fabric cushions. The result is I don't think i've got enough pressure on the prints to transfer the images properly. So the Christmas cushions are going to have to wait until next year, when hopefully i will have invested in a printing press so i can get better pressure and image transfer. Here is what i could achieve with hand burnishing (hand rubbing to print), and you can see that the image is faint and in places not particularly well defined.
But for now though i thought I'd turn one or two of the wreath designs into Christmas poster style prints, and I'm working on those at the minute. Here's a preview of he ribbon wreath poster print, drawn up on the LIno, before and then after the 'deliberate' mistake, can you spot it........
First Rule of Relief Printing: Words have to be in mirror image on the lino block for them to print the right way round!!!! I caught it before i started cutting the image but I have done this soooooo many times now, and it's getting ridiculous. I might make myself a print deliberately written in reverse and hang it on my studio wall. Hopefully, in an effort to stop me from doing it over and over again. Sighhhhhhhh.
